COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
COATING COMPOUND, BITUMINOUS, FILLERS, SOLVENT TYPE,
ALUMINUM PIGMENTED
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description, for all federal agencies.
1. This Commercial Item Description covers an aluminum pigmented asphalt coating for use on new roofs and in the repair and coating of asphalt and metal roofing. The coating shall conform to the requirements for Aluminum Pigmented Asphalt Roof Coating, Type Ill, as specified in the latest edition of ASTM D 2824 that is in effect on the date of contractor order. The roof coating SHALL NOT CONTAIN ASBESTOS FIBERS.
2. Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
3. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and making shall be as specified in the contract or order.
4. Product Conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.
5. Copies of ASTM specifications or standards may be obtained from the American Society for Testing and Materials, 100 Bar Harbor Drive, West Conshohocken, PA 19428-2959.
