2.3 Order of precedence. In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulation unless a specific exemption has been obtained.
3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Material. The physical composition of the thread compound shall be 50 +2 percent of weight of petrolatum (see 3.1.1) with the balance by weight percent of graphite (see
3.1.2).
3.1.1 Petrolatum. The petrolatum shall conform to federal specification VV-P-236.
3.1.2 Graphite. The graphite shall conform to federal specification SS-G-659 with respect to graphitic carbon and ash content and percent adulterants. No residue shall be retained on a 100-mesh screen; not more than 2 percent shall be retained on a
200-mesh screen.
